DESCRIPTION:

We think that games should be played for decades, but many of them are abandoned even when a local community works to keep them alive. DECA specializes in purchasing games from other developers and revitalizing them so that players can enjoy them for decades. When other studies look at an old game, we see a fantastic collection of issues that need to be solved as well as a huge opportunity.

We’re seeking for a designer to support one of our well-known titles and join our team. Through a KPI-driven strategy, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that the game’s features are paced in a way that engages our users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General design obligations with a system design emphasis.
  • Design and balancing of combat.
  • Designing characters and abilities.
  • Designing and balancing events and features.
  • Game difficulty and in-game stuff should be balanced.
  • The meta systems and the game’s economics must be in balance.
  • Create comprehensive and accurate feature documentation.
  • Make sure all team members understand your design concepts.
  • Industry benchmark best practices.
  • Examine user behavior across all relevant sources to ensure that it reflects our goals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of experience in related positions.
  • Strong familiarity with the fundamental rules of game design (gameplay, learning curve, creating emotion, difficulty balancing, reward).
  • Extensive, current knowledge of the free-to-play market, particularly as it relates to mobile platforms.
  • Good working knowledge of at least some of the editing packages used in the industry (Unity, PlayFab, CVS file formats etc).
  • Strong analytical and formal thinking, with the ability to dissect issues into their essential components and determine the relationships between them.
  • Excellent econometrics skills, including the capacity to transform issues into quantitative systems and derive qualitative inferences from quantitative data;
  • Basic familiarity with Google Sheets or Excel.
  • A mastery of English (both written and spoken).
