The success of our business depends on satisfied customers, and it is the retail associate’s job to make that happen. The Associate consistently shows customer service excellence by smiling, making eye contact, and welcomingly greeting all customers. They also treat their coworkers with respect, follow all company best practice standards as outlined in their work centers, keep their work area clean, and present merchandise correctly. The Retail Associate is required to carry out these duties as directed throughout the workday and to fill in anywhere else the business requires them to throughout the store. In certain cases, the Associate may be asked to take on more responsibilities if doing so will contribute to our operational and customer service objectives.
Primary Purposes:
- Recognizes the importance of safety and consistently exhibits safe actions in all aspects of their life.
- Constantly scans the sales floor for potential dangers so that customers can buy in peace. Keeps all exits clear and unobstructed in the event of an emergency. Notifies store leadership of any unsafe circumstances or practices and takes immediate action to rectify or report them.
- Consistently maintains an approachable, professional demeanor while dealing with customers and colleagues. Apologizes to coworkers through designated company programs.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working with customers, be well-versed in the products they sell, and be able to answer their inquiries with a smile and plenty of information. Always smiles, makes eye contact, and says “hello” to customers as they walk through the store; adds a “thank you” after each purchase at the register.
- Answers customer inquiries quickly and effectively. Swiftly attends to customer service inquiries. Responds politely and helpfully to all customer concerns, contacting Store Leadership as necessary.
- Always acts as an ambassador for the company’s brand.
- Assists with the upkeep of goods, customer, and Team areas by cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas such as the front-end, sales floor, and restrooms, as well as dusting, mopping, wiping down counters and mirrors, and restocking restroom supplies.
- Always presents oneself in a businesslike manner and follows the dress code established by the company.
- Contributes to the upkeep of goods, customer, and Team areas by cleaning as needed, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, and restocking restroom supplies.
- Completes assigned sizing and recovery tasks daily in accordance with corporate policy to keep a store that is clean, well-organized, and merchandised efficiently according to standards.
- Assists customers by quickly distributing freshly obtained merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandising all things according to business best practices and monthly presentation rules, and keeping departments informed with merchandise and brand names.
- Has knowledge of item protection requirements, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) role (if relevant), and the Loss Prevention Awareness campaign.
- Always acts with the utmost honesty and integrity while dealing with Associates and Customers on behalf of Ross Inc. Preserves sensitive data, credit card details, and purchased goods.
- Identifies Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) product, processes it correctly, and notifies Store Leadership to review and approve disposals in accordance with all policies.
- Observes all protocols and policies pertaining to offline processes, voids, refunds, cash, checks, and charge cards. When dealing with bankable tenders, stays extremely vigilant and precise.
- Exhibits a strong desire to do tasks quickly and effectively. Achieves peak performance by adhering to all Store best practices and streamlining processes to reduce human intervention.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Always maintain cordial, courteous, cooperative, and positive communication with customers, coworkers, and store management.
- Capability to execute simple arithmetic operations frequently encountered in retail settings.
ADULTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Aptitude to operate all necessary store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- The ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store for the entirety of each workday is required.
- Regularly stoop, kneel, climb, carry, and bend at the waist is required.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, pull, and push over 25 pounds.
- Proficiency in the use of janitorial tools, rolling racks, ladders, and other materials provided.
- Other credentials and abilities may be necessary for some tasks.
- Employees that work in the stockroom: Requires no less than 20 pounds to regularly pull, push, or raise.
