In order to oversee the planning of air and ocean freight for cargo traveling from suppliers and production hubs into Amazon’s new and existing fulfillment centers, the Amazon Robotics Global Logistics team is seeking a Global Transportation Manager. A vendor management component of the job involves the candidate frequently interacting with carriers and 3PL partners.
Responsibilities:
The ideal applicant will have a solid history in data management, which will enable them to oversee numerous stakeholders across various programs. They will also have a track record of thinking creatively and comprehensively about supply chain initiatives, as well as the ability to influence senior managers to reach an agreement on objectives. It is preferred to have knowledge of international logistics.
Principal duties of the position
- You will be converting market conditions, operational limitations, and demand projections into plans for capacity and international freight.
- You will bargain with 3PLs to negotiate pricing for airfreight, port dry operations, and ocean freight.
- You will be responsible for the performance of the carriers and guarantee that our partners operate effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with our operating standards.
- You will identify at-risk operations, create and implement proactive contingency measures to prevent service outages, and create risk management strategies for seasonal peak volumes.
- For network planning and cost optimization, you will offer feedback on logistics strategy.
- Excel, Tableau, SQL, or other data visualization tools will be used to access data.
- For both air and ocean freight, you will collaborate with internal Amazon logistics solutions teams.
- You’ll evaluate the technology on hand to direct our planning procedures.
- The chosen applicants will possess exceptional communication skills, curiosity, drive, and the ability to work well in remote teams.
Requirements:
PRIMARY QUALIFCATIONS
- Three or more years of program or project management experience – Three or more years of cross-functional experience working with both tech and non-tech teams
- At least three years’ experience developing and implementing programs for process improvement utilizing data and metrics
- + Two years of experience in the supply chain
- A bachelor’s degree
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps)
- Proficiency in formulating program requirements and identifying enhancements using data and metrics
DESIDERED SPECIFICATIONS
- Over three years of overseeing complete execution and reporting findings to higher-level executives
- Three or more years of experience leading process changes;
- Stakeholder management experience, including handling several stakeholders at various organizational levels;
- Process development, project management, and scheduling experience
