The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), with over 180 contracting parties, aims to safeguard global cultivated and wild plants by preventing the introduction and spread of plant pests. The IPPC Secretariat, hosted by FAO, seeks an Editor and Report Writer to support its work. Reporting to the Integration and Support Team (IST) Lead, you will primarily copy-edit and proofread publications and documents and draft reports for IPPC-related meetings and events.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-draft reports for IPPC meetings based on relevant documents.
- Manage report-writing processes for IPPC meetings and events.
- Coordinate review processes for meeting reports.
- Maintain and update the IPPC style guide.
- Provide editorial support to improve readability of IPPC materials.
- Apply FAO/IPPC publication style guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to FAO/IPPC templates and layouts.
Requirements:
- Advanced University degree (for consultants) or University degree (for PSA) in agriculture, languages, journalism, communication, social science, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in writing, editing, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one other UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian).
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Keen eye for detail and knowledge of editing and copyediting styles.
- Proactive attitude and ability to deliver quality documents on time.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in multi-cultural teams.
- Understanding of FAO policies and familiarity with UN administrative procedures is an asset.
