Position Description:

The Safety Technician at BGIS is responsible for enhancing health, safety, and environment (HSE) metrics and strategies. This role involves developing HSE activities, risk management strategies, and effective communication with clients and team members, reflecting BGIS values.

Responsibilities:

• Support management of safety, environmental, and emergency response resources.
• Assist in HSE program facilitation to monitor and improve performance.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of HSE programs and materials.
• Perform hazard/risk assessments in critical facilities and construction areas.
• Promote and implement HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
• Implement and maintain Hazard Identification and Risk Management Standard.
• Coordinate and track HSE training for compliance with laws and company policies.
• Attend company and client meetings.
• Develop and distribute HSE reports, KPIs, and metrics.
• Act as the primary contact for HSE incidents and investigations.
• Coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
• Monitor vendor compliance and perform HSE evaluations.
• Participate in additional key initiatives as required.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Management, or relevant experience.
• At least one year of experience in HSE program management in critical environments or construction.
• Working towards or preference for HSE certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST).
• Familiarity with federal regulations 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.
• Knowledge of RCRA Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, and Title V regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Problem-solving and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio).
