The ideal candidate must reside in the Bay Area or within two hours of Oakland, California for this 100% remote position. The potential candidate will also be needed to take part in a number of in-person engagement events throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing development programs are essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Look for ways to improve customer service standards, establish connections with internal staff, present and potential stakeholders, corporate members, strategic alliance partners, governmental organizations, consultants, development & training suppliers, chambers of commerce, etc.
  • Plan and carry out small events connected to development programs, both virtually and physically, such as webinars, program launches, graduations, etc. (up to 50 attendees for MBE smaller events and up to 200 for corporate member virtual events).
  • Represent the Council in sessions of the Committee.
  • Offer direction or carry out senior management’s instructions for the production of materials or collateral to aid Corporate Members in development initiatives.
  • Create and manage systems and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Handle and address requests for technical support, resources, and direction.
  • Train cohort development graduates on how to utilize their certification, how to approach businesses appropriately, how to analyze capability statements, how to evaluate pitches, and other development-related issues.
  • Help find and secure development speakers as needed for workshops, meetings, events, and initiatives.
  • Participate in kickoff, graduation, and outreach to stakeholders events as a company representative.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and take ownership of outreach and interaction
  • Create promotional materials, websites, social media campaigns, and other forms of communication as necessary to encourage support for and participation in this company’s development activities.
  • Take part in the budgeting and planning process and oversee the budget for development programs.
  • Check that development initiatives are suitable for each location.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 25% input and research

  • Assist with event management, development, and other yet-to-be-defined special initiatives as needed to guarantee successful completion and optimal efficiency.
  • Comply with instructions on data reporting, tracking, obtaining, maintaining, and communicating information.
  • Ensure the integrity of internal and external sites and effective data tracking.
  • Produce reports as necessary

Requirements:

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • A passion for learning and an interest in newly developing development fields and tool improvements.
  • The capacity to operate both independently and collaboratively; professional interaction with Fortune 500 CEOs and their staff.
  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail, along with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Prefer some expertise or knowledge with learning management systems (LMS), executing monitoring techniques, procedures, and analytics, including programs like Google, Submittable, Salesforce, and Zoom.
  • Exhibited advanced skill in the following areas: budget management, vendor management, problem-solving, project management, the Microsoft Office Suite, Sharepoint, PowerBI, and online event registration software like Eventbrite.
  • The capacity to implement, improve, and sustain systems and procedures in a hectic setting.
  • Advanced oral and written communication abilities, including meeting facilitation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to listen, influence, and form bonds with others.
  • The capacity and willingness to travel within and outside of California as necessary.

EXPERIENCE OR EDUCATION:

  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in four years in a relevant discipline, such as program administration, communications, business administration, or management of programs.
  • Minority entrepreneurs’ understanding of supplier diversity
  • Previous experience managing remote teams or satellite offices
