Position Description

Hot Bread Kitchen, a non-profit organization that aims to create economic mobility for individuals affected by gender, racial, social, and/or economic inequality in New York City is looking for a Small Business Program Director to manage its small business program. The right candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all activities related to the program. They will report directly to the Chief Program Officer and be passionate about small businesses, especially those owned and operated by women of color.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Small Business Program Director include overseeing the Seed pre-incubation program implementation, managing partnerships, conducting regular check-ins, supporting the identification of capital resources, and facilitating access to market and Brand opportunities. Additionally, the Director will develop new Seed content and identify new partners who can serve as complementary resources to Hot Bread Kitchen. They will also work closely with the Community Engagement team to ensure a robust pipeline of applicants for Seed and Start programs, proactively and systematically collect all Seed and Start data, and support development and grant application opportunities specific to the program.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a deep passion for the mission and vision of Hot Bread Kitchen, with experience in program management, project management, and a working understanding of the barriers facing immigrants and women of color in starting a business. They should also have experience working with small food businesses, including a demonstrated understanding of the importance of finances, marketing, branding, market placement, and building a sustainable business model. A relevant educational degree, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google platforms is required. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
