Position Description

Cambridge Center for Adult Education (CCAE) is a nonprofit organization operating an extensive array of nearly 2,000 classes each year, including Food & Wine, Business & Technology and Science & Nature courses. CCAE requires a full-time Program Director to manage and develop the Food & Wine department’s educational curriculum while supporting other smaller departments. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an educational setting, besides an extensive background and passion for Food & Wine. The Program Director will bring enthusiasm, integrity, great communication and administrative skills to the position while delivering results in a dynamic workplace, working independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Identify current course offerings that meet students’ needs and propose opportunities for new directions.
• Serve as a primary liaison for Food & Wine teachers to ensure outstanding teaching and seek teacher input and suggestions.
• Manage the cooking class assistants’ program to ensure that the cooking class instructors are supported as needed.
• Develop descriptive programming text for catalog and website use.
• Communicate with the instructors about private cooking class inquiries and custom classes.
• Manage the CCAE kitchen and maintain kitchen pantry and appliances in close collaboration with the Maintenance team.
• Execute hiring agreements and other administrative matters and work closely with the Finance Office.
• Develop a command of CCAE’s registration system, data management practices, and budgeting to support ongoing efforts.
• Research competitive information to determine how CCAE can set itself apart from other nonprofit culinary organizations that offer classes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in related fields.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with teachers and students.
• Teaching or nonprofit educational experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing requirements while maintaining a friendly, pleasant and collaborative attitude.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team.

The workweek primarily runs from Monday to Friday during regular business hours, with occasional work on weekends and evenings during peak times. This is a hybrid role that requires the Program Director to work in-person for 3-4 days per week. The salary range for this position is $59,000- $64,000 per annum, with additional benefits that include free tuition, health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, sick days and personal days.
