Position Description
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is seeking a Coordinator of Communications to join its fast-paced and growing nonprofit team. Responsibilities
The Coordinator of Communications for EDF+Business is responsible for but not limited to:
– Track media, recognizing the potential for speaking opportunities for EDF+Business representatives.
– Track media mentions and impressions for EDF+Business and creating reports as required.
– Create a comprehensive project plan with timelines and production overviews, perform regular checkpoints with workstream operators, and determine risks and challenges accordingly.
– Optimize digital efforts for planning and brainstorming, which includes managing photo research and digital assets.
– Ensure quality control of content published on EDF+Business digital channels.
– Draft, execute and analyze results of paid advertising campaigns on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
– Provide support for developing the EDF+Business newsletter, including design and content selection.
– Analyze monthly digital metrics from a variety of tools (Google analytics, Hoot Suite, TweetDeck, and more) and help synthesize results and inform best practices.
– Research target audiences and identify the best digital tools and tactics to reach them and achieve campaign goals.
– Research, develop, and implement systems to help the communications team work more efficiently.
– Keep the EDF+Business website up-to-date with the newest data, relevant content, and visuals.
– Provide communications team with support for report launches, key moments, etc.
– Develop communications materials for the communications team and cooperate across many EDF programs and communications teams.
– Maintain documentation for production processes and provide training as required.
– Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals to make sure that individuals from all backgrounds feel included.
Qualifications
– A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or marketing is desirable.
– A minimum of two years of experience in communications in a political or issue advocacy context is preferred.
– Proficiency in Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet research is necessary.
– Practical experience in environmental media and communications is preferred.
– Excellent writing, proofing, and editing skills needed.
– Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively under deadline pressure.
– Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
– Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, and inclusivity, and the ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
