You will lead Target’s developing digital experience as a Principal Product Designer in the Guest UX team, driving innovation for the customer experience and company expansion. For Target’s experiences on Target.com, iOS, Android, and in-store tools, you will oversee experience strategy, design, and innovation. You’ll pave the way with design thinking to bring cutting-edge concepts and designs to the customer shopping experience while promoting our product, engineering, and business teams’ experimentation processes to direct iteration.
You are a leader in creative solutions for an end-to-end customer journey across digital and physical touchpoints and are a specialist in user experience for e-commerce retail. The vision and product strategy for digital experiences will be led and created by you. You’ll employ your business expertise and clout to forge alliances with partners in product development, engineering, business, and user experience. By ongoing involvement, you’ll foster teamwork and promote user-centric results for your product portfolio.
You are a master at visual design, information architecture, and interaction design. You think in systems and work within and on behalf of an enterprise design system. You will guide other designers through the full process from concept to completion, guiding them through generative discovery, research, and iterative design solutions.
In order to power tailored, pertinent, and enjoyable guest experiences, you’ll coordinate and make use of guest insights and research. You’ll combine these tools into dynamic prototypes to encourage change, gain support from stakeholders, and drive step-level change throughout the organization with your vision. At the same time, you’ll provide our customers with consistent and considerate end-to-end guidance, assisting them in discovering happiness, belonging, and success during their Target shopping experience.
You will assume responsibility for establishing the vision and strategy for Target’s loyalty program across all digital touchpoints, including Target.com, iOS, Android, and in-store touchpoints like the point-of-sale and self-checkout. You are a leading authority on user experience at the nexus of loyalty programs, e-commerce, and retail.
You will assist the growth of younger product designers as a key team member and help the firm’s overall product design and UX organization build its skill set. As a member of your core working team, you will also serve as a mentor to young product designers by providing guidance on the design process, visual design, problem-solving, and dealing with important partners. You will determine and work together on particular junior designer development topics with your design manager.

Responsibilities:
- Establish a UX strategy and vision to guide investment, collaborations, and the balance of new vs. iterative experiences for customers across digital platforms.
- Generate design deliverables that are indicative of the design process phase, such as user flows, journey maps, wireframes, UI designs, and prototypes.
- Mentor young designers and assist in the design process
- Use both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to investigate.
- Hold all aspects of design work, such as accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design, to a high quality of craftsmanship.
- Use your influence to discover and pursue user-centric results for products as a whole.
- Facilitate top stakeholders and numerous cross-functional working teams effectively.
- Interact, educate, test, and evolve complex human and design systems
- Encourage UX, product, and engineering teams to adopt a culture of human-centered practice.
- Create a network of connections to facilitate your work.
- Expert knowledge of design and prototyping software (We use Figma)
- Straddle complexity and interpret ambiguity
Responsibilities:
- You have over ten years of relevant experience as a product designer.
- You excel where design strategy and craft collide.
- Exceptional aptitude for visual design, information architecture, interaction design, experience strategy, organizing and planning work, and taking ownership of the design process.
- Talents in teamwork, systems thinking, and expert strategic problem-solving
- You challenge the status quo, take on difficult issues, and try to understand the motivations behind people’s actions and resistance to change.
- A track record of setting direction using data and insights
- Using both quantitative and qualitative data, you apply design thinking and make persuasive presentations to senior executives.
