The duties of the Stage Manager I position support studio and remote productions. In remote productions, the Stage Manager will serve as the Director’s eyes and ears on stage and in the studio, transmitting instructions to the cast and crew. Make sure that every set is ready and that all production positions are filled. Be prepared for issues that might occur in the studio during a production, troubleshoot them as needed, and notify the director of any conceivable concerns. Any rundown adjustments should be communicated, along with any potential effects on studio talent placement and camera blocking.
Responsibilities:
- Manages a certain studio. makes certain that the Director has all the supplies and tools necessary to run the production. Ensures that the necessary studio positions are filled and that the sets are operational.
- Ensures that the equipment needs of the talent are satisfied, including iPads, appropriate chairs, pens/papers, and mirrors.
- Determines the placement of floor monitors based on the positions of the performers.
- A pre-production activity participant.
- liaises with the appointed talent and visitors and makes sure they are available.
- Controls the live or live-to-tape portions of productions and assists the director with studio floor management tasks.
- Determines problems with studios and production personnel, notifies the proper organizational unit of them, and then monitors their resolution.
- Ensures that allocated tasks are completed in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
- Oversees the distribution and maintenance of studio props.
- Communicates daily about Stage Manager coverage.
- Practices and upholds the performance standards as they relate to leadership, communication, operations, personal growth, and productions. Consistently carries out all responsibilities and tasks necessary for the Stage Manager position.
Requirements:
- A working knowledge of television production.
- Verbal communication abilities that are comprehensive, clear, and concise.
- The capacity to think swiftly under duress.
- Diligent, focused on the details, enthusiastic about production, intrigued by technology, and consistently brings original ideas.
Preferred credentials:
- Experience in production for at least a year, or network equivalent, is preferred.
- Spanish and English language proficiency is preferred.
Necessary education
- Equivalent to a high school diploma
Education preference:
- Undergraduate degree
