Regarding you

  • You have years of expertise as a software engineer and a thorough understanding of software engineering principles.
  • You are an expert in container technologies like Kubernetes and Docker. If you’ve used containers for production, you get bonus points.
  • You know how to use Golang well. If you have created Golang-based container-based tooling, you get extra points.
  • You are knowledgeable about Git, AWS, and Unix.
  • You have the drive and self-control to run your own queue.
  • You enjoy finding straightforward, squeaky-clean answers to problems.
  • You concur that clear, effective verbal and written communication is essential for a productive collaboration.
  • You can maintain a minimum 5-hour window between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM Pacific time.
  • You can set aside around two weeks a year for business travel.

Here’s How You Can Influence Things

  • Assist in creating a self-service infrastructure built on containers for product engineering teams.
  • Together with the rest of the infrastructure and devops team, work on enabling other technical teams.
  • Create and implement secure, user-friendly tooling and abstractions that other teams can use.
  • Active engagement in the planning, execution, and upkeep of the infrastructure for development, staging, and production.
  • Take part in a rotating on-call schedule for the services provided by your team.
  • Assist in ensuring the consistency and availability of services inside the organization.
  • If an outage occurs, write succinct post-mortems.
  • Create and update runbooks that other engineers can use.
  • Make sure there is adequate monitoring, reporting, alerting, and security.
