Location: Amarillo work from home
Company: Metabase
We are seeking outstanding software engineers to become a part of our team and help us with the tedious tasks that simplify the lives of our users. Our operating system is a combination of JavaScript, Clojure, and TypeScript; the ideal applicant has produced production code in at least one of these languages. Along with handling some of our more challenging backend problems as they come up, you will be required to ship significant features throughout our JavaScript and Clojure codebase from start to finish. It would be beneficial to have some knowledge of compiler theory, machine learning, and contemporary large data infrastructures. You ought to be extremely sensitive to the end user’s experience and possess strong product senses.
We have several openings for backend software engineers.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Clojure (or an intense willingness to learn)
- History of delivering highly complex products
- strong foundation in computer science (obtained through CS programs or releasing software in a production environment)
- Capable of rendering sound technical decisions and providing clear justification
- Good to have: JDBC and database integration experience
- Knowledge of the Java ecosystem and JVM tuning is a nice to have.
- A history of contributions to open source is nice to have.
- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript is a plus (our frontend is in JS and TS).
We are an international team with 50% of our members based outside of the US. We work remotely, from Thailand to California, and we do tasks asynchronously and with lots of free time, encouraging one another to produce our greatest work to date. We provide autonomy, freedom to set your own hours and work from anywhere, and a supportive environment for learning and development. Our philosophy is to develop long-term value instead of short-term fixes, and we are unwaveringly user-focused. Additionally, we raised a $30 million Series B to advance our strategy over the next several years.
