Position Description:

STAT is searching for an experienced editor to create and own a professional SEO strategy as our newsroom continues to expand. The sharpest headlines for search would be guaranteed by this editor, who would be monitoring all STAT stories. Additionally, this editor will look through old tales to see if any display copy needs to be improved. Last but not least, this editor will assist in optimizing all of STAT’s numerous activities for search.

We are searching for an editor that possesses the collaborative attitude, adaptability, and willingness to experiment that STAT takes great satisfaction in. Adherence to fundamental journalistic principles and a dedication to quality are also necessary.

How You’ll Act

  • Make sure headlines on articles and landing pages are as good as they can be and that they are search engine optimized.
  • Work with editors to implement search trends and keyword advice prior to the publication of significant projects.
  • Contribute to identifying the new curated collections and categories we require to more prominently display our editorial content on the homepage, article pages, event sites, and social media channels.
  • actively seek for opportunities to include compelling calls to action in our stories (such as related stories, email signups, event promotion, etc.).
  • Give the STAT newsroom SEO help, such as direction on a plan for on- and off-page improvements and recommendations, and educate new hires on SEO best practices.
  • Use SEO tools and tactics to maximize conversions, improve user experience, and track daily performance data throughout the entire website.
  • Assist the product team closely by conducting audits and guiding requests for increasing mobile usability, backlinks, page speed, and redirects.
  • other landing pages, such as the pages for STAT’s events, reports, e-books, and other supplementary product pages, should be optimized
  • Improve non-performing stories and pages for ranking while using Brightedge to optimize high-performing stories (current and evergreen) for ongoing ranking. This will increase conversions and revenue from those important pages.
  • To find content gaps, new trends, and business prospects in the life sciences industry, conduct keyword research.
  • Create and improve auditing processes, SERP monitoring tools, and performance dashboards. Provide daily, weekly, and monthly business performance updates, important growth initiative progress, and data analysis to help guide strategy
  • Organize interactions and collaborations with significant search platforms (Google, Microsoft, DuckDuckGo, CrowdTanlge, Brightedge)
  • Encourage cooperation and partnerships with other SEO specialists at Boston Globe Media Group.

Your Identity

  • A minimum of five years’ worth of expertise in an SEO-specific position and a thorough knowledge of SEMrush, Moz, and other tools for search engine optimization preferred knowledge of Brightedge and/or Conductor.
  • a desire to place extraordinary tales in the hands of extraordinary readers
  • Writing SEO-friendly headlines with experience and knowledge of best practices
  • knowledge of Adobe’s Omniture and Google Analytics
