Position Description:
You will direct all phases of research initiatives as a user researcher. You will identify needs and set priorities for research projects while collaborating closely with other UX researchers, product managers, designers, and engineers. These research initiatives will be conducted and carried out by you based on hastily created, precise, and comprehensive research proposals and plans that specify the objectives, scope, target audience, and suitable generative and evaluative research methodologies. You will effectively arrange and analyze research insights using both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies after conducting research. The final objective is to effectively communicate your findings to cross-disciplinary teams and external audiences.
Your duties in this position are as follows:
- promoting the needs and viewpoints of users through the facilitation of a user-centered design and product development process;
- creating research tools such interview procedures, scripts for usability tests, questionnaires, and diary studies;
- research understanding and incorporation of intricate and subtle technological and business requirements;
- leading user research sessions and developing screeners with participant recruiting providers;
- doing in-context fieldwork and moderating research sessions;
- Encourage and put into practice research techniques for metric analysis, data analysis, and segmentation; and
- collaborating on group projects and mentoring opportunities across Pocket and Mozilla with peers in user research.
We need someone to join the team who:
- possesses at least 3 to 5 years of full-time industry-related UX research experience (i.e., experience gained outside of academics and internships);
- possesses experience using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative techniques (such as observational studies, surveys, unmoderated and moderated interviews, click tests, including usability testing, cognitive walk-throughs, 1:1 user interviews, and remote testing); and has a thorough understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of various research techniques, as well as when and how to use them at various stages of the product lifecycle.
