With the latest design methods, technologies, and processes, CVS Health will use a whole new way to make software as part of this project.
The Platform Architect will be an important part of building a comprehensive view and road map of Retail Data Engineering’s technology strategy and processes. The Sr. Manager of Platform Engineering will work with technology teams and different business units to manage, improve, and recommend solutions that are in line with the Retail Data Engineering platform strategy and best practices in the industry. This role will help build the foundation for the enterprise platform capabilities of the future state. This role will also be in charge of different efforts to come up with new ways to serve our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Making the Retail Data Engineering team’s operations better and more efficien
- Manage and help a team of Platform Operation Specialists 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Help manage vendors, communicate with them, and solve technical problems.
- Using Kubernetes and cloud native container services, you can manage large-scale hybrid cloud deployments, as well as redesign and plan them.
- Work with senior technology staff and business leaders to plan strategic platforms as a consultant.
- Make a long-term strategic plan for platform architectures that fits with the business’s goals and priorities.
- Keep an overall view of the strategy, processes, information, and technology assets of the organization.
- Help business leaders get clear on their goals and hopes for technological innovation.
- Make sure that both functional and non-functional platform requirements are met according to the design and architecture and that they are in line with business goals.
- Looks at the functional and technical designs to find areas of risk and/or requirements that are missing.
- Track and keep an eye on how Retail Data Engineering uses the cloud. Work with Cloud FinOps to find ways to cut costs.
- Work with the cloud provider to solve problems and make plans.
Location: Hybrid (work on-site every Tuesday and Wednesday), preferably in the Boston, Wellesley, or Woonsocket, Rhode Island, area. Will think about a hybrid car in Chicago, New York, or Dallas. Will think about a 100% remote position for a very good candidate.
Pay Range
The usual range of pay for this job is: Minimum: 115,000 Maximum: 230,000
Please keep in mind that this range is the pay range for all jobs in the same job grade as this position. The actual salary offer will depend on a lot of things, like where the job is.
Requirements:
- Track record of leading teams that give engineers self-service through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation.
- Cloud migration experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
- This position requires expertise in using cutting-edge technology and automation, which are at the heart of operational excellence.
- Work with engineering and global support teams to make sure that customers on Azure and/or GCP have the same experience.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business, vendor, and technical groups. Able to think big and question what people think they know about technology and designing platforms for the future.
- Experience documenting technical and/or architectural dependencies
- Know what the difference is between CI and CD.
- Before, applications and software were automated by hand through the CI/CD pipeline
- Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, Big Data (like Hadoop), Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools and technologies
- A solid understanding of tools and skills, such as:
- Understanding of Azure and/or Google Kubernetes Service (AKS/GKS) or Azure Container Service Configuration Management tools (experience with Chef or Ansible preferred) Experience with an orchestration tool (Airflow, ADF, Kubeflow, or ctrl-m is preferred)
- Continuous Integration/Delivery tools include Gitlab/Github, Argo, Jenkins, Nexus, Twistlock, ACR/GCR/Quay, and Splunk or Azure for log management. Tools like Dynatrace and Azure App Insights can be used to monitor and track applications.
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of DevSecOps and the ability to set up security architecture to protect data at rest and in transit (ideally in an Azure and/or GCP environment).
- Good knowledge of how to set up and make the most of SRE teams
- Strong desire to automate manual tasks and keep making them better through iterations. Experience making and keeping a solution blueprint.
- Prior experience providing cost visibility for the cloud and driving strategies to keep costs down.
- Graduate degree in computer science or engineering. Previous experience in retail or healthcare, including pharmacy services.
Education A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or the equivalent amount of work experience is needed.
