The Senior Analyst for Systems Engineering has specialized technical capabilities in a variety of mainframe and distributed disciplines, such as database management, MQ queue management, CICS, WebSphere, IIB, etc. The usual hours for this third shift role would be in the evenings during alternating shifts.
It is necessary to be knowledgeable with the z/OS, AIX, and Linux operating systems in order to handle mainframe (Db2 z/OS & IDMS) and distributed (Db2 LUW, Oracle, and SQL Server) databases. You will collaborate with a group of outstanding DBAs and systems engineers on the Database Administration team of a Fortune 5 firm. This group is in charge of business-critical systems that use high availability solutions and where availability, reliability, and stability are crucial. You will contribute to making sure all solutions to application and business problems are safe, legal, and follow the minimal security baselines established by CVS Health.
As a nocturnal extension of these IT teams in the enterprise, middleware support comprises MQ queue administration, CICS, and IIB assistance, offering checkouts, starting and stopping of services and queues, assisting in releases, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with AIX/LINUX, WINDOWS server upgrades and patches, perform thorough checks for MQ, DB2, and IIB components.
Test the functionality of the CICS platform following any software or database upgrades. - Understanding of CICS functionality and operations
- In collaboration with Data Center Operations employees, gather further CICS diagnostics as necessary. Level One/Two support response to offshore development requests, issues, queries, and troubleshooting
- Fix batch job problems related to infrastructure platform and application batch maintenance jobs for mainframe and midrange
- Fix DB2 batch utility abends, including those related to image copies, modifications, reorgs, unloads, and reloads.

Pay Scale
The usual pay scale for this position is as follows: 33.65 minimum; 67.31 maximum

Requirements:
Required credentials
- 5+ years of experience working in the field of information technology.
- 5+ years of experience as a middleware engineer, MQ administrator, or database administrator.
- Familiarity with mainframe, Linux, Windows, and AIX platforms
- Examining various products closely and spotting irregularities
- Excellent analytical abilities in relation to transaction hang and abend difficulties
- Product availability and health-checking capabilities
- Experience with Abend-aid, expeditor, QMON, Omegamon, and Splunk
- Facilitate off-shift change activities with clear and succinct documentation of off-shift activity
Desired Qualifications
- Determine and address errors in a variety of batch jobs, including database backups, file allocation/deallocation, image copies, changes, reorgs, unloads, and reloads, among others.
- Suspend/enable Oracle Listeners
- Activate/Suspend MQ Managers
- Activate/Suspend IIB execution groups
- CICS Transactions: Enabling and Disabling
- Move/Delete/Backup Messages in MQ
- DMS troubleshooting
Education
Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of relevant IT experience instead of a degree
