Position Description:
By protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure, and applications, the Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) department secures the business. CIS unifies cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies, and operations across Verizon and attempts to design security into technology systems and services.
The Public Sector Security team reports to the Verizon Business Group (VBG) Public Sector CISO and is responsible for supporting the Public Sector Business Unit’s security architecture and engineering efforts. The role is in charge of assisting with security engineering and security compliance tasks related to Public Sector business goals such as Federal, SLED, Connect, and Smart Communities. The candidate will be responsible for providing overall security architecture and engineering strategy, as well as supporting security engineering projects and the RMF architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Learning more about enterprise cyber services for a big telecommunications company.
- Attending learning programs and training sessions to gain expertise of daily business operations.
- Technical communication to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Attending networking events with other interns, professionals, and business executives.
You’ll need the following items:
- A bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience are required.
- A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity is required.
It’s even better if you have at least one of the following:
- Experience or an internship in cybersecurity is preferred.
- Understanding of security governance, risk management, and/or compliance principles.
- Capability to operate autonomously in a remote location.
- Excellent analytical abilities, as well as communication, leadership, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and principles as they apply to people, processes, and technology.
- Understanding of security standards and compliance.
- Working ability in a highly collaborative atmosphere.
- Good relationship skills and a collaborative attitude are required for success with several partners.
- Excellent organizational and technical abilities.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Capability to meet all regulatory criteria.
