In addition to running the audio board and screening audio, the part-time production assistant may also help with and support the radio production of assigned discussion shows, podcasts, and/or remote sporting events.

Responsibilities:

  • Actual events, play-by-play clips, and audio from ESPN shows are chopped and edited.
  • Will decide which audio selections are most suitable for ESPN Radio.
  • Serves as an associate producer on occasion for radio projects.
  • Provides research materials for interviews, helps with guest booking, creates program elements, and operates the control board to support ESPN Radio producers.
  • collects the materials required for projects’ various components by conducting research on sports information.
  • Will operate the audio board when instructed.
  • occasionally works as an associate producer for podcasts and radio shows when directed.
  • may help with podcast and radio broadcast creative themes.
  • may collaborate on show production and/or commercials with our Imaging team.
  • Must be well-versed in MLB, CFB, NFL, NBA, and other sports.
  • Must be able to make sound judgments about the news based on the day’s major stories.
  • The work is scrutinized, thoroughly supervised, and checked for accuracy, punctuality, and conformity to established standards.

Requirements:

Required credentials:

  • 1 year in commercial production and 1 year at a network or local radio station, respectively.

Preferred credentials:

  • A minimum of two years of experience working for a commercially run local or network radio station

Necessary education

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent is preferred.
  • Equivalent to a college degree.

Informational Supplement:

  • Will work weekends, nights, and holidays.
