The role of the Principal DevOps Engineer will be that of a Technical Subject Matter Expert and Individual Contributor who is responsible for driving organizational change in the creation of devops tooling, methods, and culture. You will contribute to the enterprise-wide standards for observability, scalability, availability, security, and cost performance and assure their implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of the DevOps strategy, including tool design, practice development, and culture.
  • Establish and uphold DevOps best practices, such as automated testing, version control, code review, and deployment techniques.
  • Utilizing technologies like Terraform, Ansible, or comparable ones, architect and manage infrastructure as code to provision and manage resources across cloud environments.
  • Application deployment that is quick and reliable is made possible by implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar.
  • Work together with the security and compliance departments to make sure everyone is following industry standards and legal obligations.
  • To increase launch/failback consistency and accuracy, monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and procedures to find areas for enhancement, optimization, and automation.
  • Keep abreast with new data trends, technologies, and best practices, and suggest their implementation within the DevOps ecosystem of the enterprise.
  • Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing and ongoing learning by mentoring and offering technical help to team members who are less experienced.

Requirements:

  • At least ten years of proven experience developing DevOps data platforms, particularly in a senior or lead role.
  • Working knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as GCP (recommended), Azure, AWS, and other public cloud environments.
  • The ability to automate resource supply and configuration using tools like Terraform and Ansible, which are infrastructure concepts.
  • Hands-on expertise using version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipeline technologies like Jenkins and CircleCI.
  • Strong scripting abilities in languages like Python, Bash, or others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to diagnose and resolve complicated DevOps platform problems.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, with the capacity to work well with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Requirements

  • To ensure application performance and system health, familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and Cloud Logging Solutions).
  • Understanding of DevOps security best practices, including practical knowledge of compliance frameworks, vulnerability screening, and safe deployment techniques.
  • A plus is having leadership experience, particularly coaching and mentoring young engineers.

Education

  • A degree in computer science, data science, or a similar discipline, either at the bachelor’s or master’s level. preferred: master’s degree.
