Position Description:
The Southlake Network Management Center (NMC) is looking for dedicated and driven engineers to help manage Verizon’s Official Telecom Next Generation Network (OTNGN), eNSE, VCP, and other network platforms. We are a highly visible Operations environment that executes troubleshooting, configuration updates, drive issues resolution, and related operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Southlake NMC (SNMC) ensures that the network is always available, reliable, and secure. To isolate network events across the country, the SNMC employs a variety of network management technologies and standard operating procedures. We are constantly working to improve our troubleshooting processes in order to maximize efficiency and reduce incidents on our voice and data networks.
Duties:
- Network monitoring voice/data network architectures for system performance issues and hardware/software defects.
- Reacting to network alarms and events as soon as possible.
- Conducting network event triage, fault isolation, and remediation.
- Taking part in trouble ticket management, outage/loss of diversity (LOD) notification management, and escalation processing.
- Creating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets across numerous systems, all while continuously improving business operations.
- Coordination and debugging network events with external and internal Verizon groups.
- Supplying leadership and external teams with timely and accurate network updates; conveying technical data in a clear and straightforward manner.
What we’re searching for…
- An associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience is required.
- Three years of relevant job experience is required.
- Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Understanding of various switching and routing protocols (STP, VLAN, BGP, OSPF).
It’s even better if you have at least one of the following:
- Certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, and/or other vendor equivalents) or two or more years of related job experience are required.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays in rotational shifts.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, F5, Nokia, and Arista devices.
- Capable of triaging and prioritizing network disruptions.
- Capability to communicate successfully at many levels of the organization.
- Understanding of IP communications equipment, technologies, procedures, and systems.
- Understanding of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS) as well as cloud computing and virtualization concepts (SDN/NFV).
- Wireless technology knowledge and troubleshooting abilities are required.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Bridge command and control experience is required.
- Knowledge about NMC/NOC (handling incoming calls, troubleshooting, opening tickets, following up).
