To satisfy the particular physiologic and psychological demands of patients with acute, critical, and/or complex chronic health problems, the nurse practitioner will deliver advanced nursing care across the continuum of health care services.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out initial patient screenings, patient histories, and physical exams to establish a care plan and/or treat medical issues.
- Ensures continuity of care and the capacity to work with other healthcare providers in the overall treatment of each patient by updating patient health records and making sure records are accurate at each patient appointment.
- To decide whether additional checkups or treatments are necessary, analyze test results and imaging data.
- Serves as the patient’s go-to resource for advice, counseling, and support for any patients with life-threatening diseases.
- Carries out chronic health evaluations to identify health issues and create a treatment strategy that can involve requesting lab work, imaging, making referrals to specialists, or prescribing medication.
- Ordering, carrying out, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory tests, including radiological investigations and EKGs, are all parts of performing differential medical diagnosis.
- Direct management of acute and chronic illnesses by placing prescriptions for pharmaceutical and non-pharmacological therapy.
- While EMS is on the way, responds to on-site crises.
- Responds to patients’ rapidly changing physiologic condition using their medical training and expertise.
- Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions and suggests a continuation or modification of the treatment strategy.
- Directs and oversees clinically the work of nurses and other care team members.
- Follows the rules of the law and professional obligations (e.g., patient management, documentation, advance directives).
- Accountable for abiding by all state laws and filing mandatory reports.
- Obeys the obligations and responsibilities set forth by the Evernorth Care Group policy and the State Board of Nursing.
Requirements:
- Required: Family Nurse Practitioner with Board Certification AANP, AANC
- Graduate of a program leading to certification as a nurse practitioner (Master’s, post-Master’s, or doctorate training.)
- Required is an active, unrestricted AZ license. (needed to obtain certification and APN number).
- Prefer NPs with at least three years of experience working in primary care.
- Required are pharmacy and DEA prescription privileges.
- Ability to use an AED and BLS certification are required. ACLS and PALS are desired and necessary for urgent care.
- Excellent abilities to establish teams.
- Good computer abilities with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) products and EHR systems.
- Maintain your license in good standing and take advantage of available CME opportunities.
- The capacity for successful communication with both internal and external clients.
- Maintains awareness of the therapeutic techniques needed for emergency care as well as the known causes of mass casualty disasters.
