Position Description:

In an ambulatory practice or clinic, provides clinical and/or administrative support.

DUTIES IN DETAIL

• Contact with consumers must be polite, appropriate, and accurate. Being a direct contact with patients and families, this employee must project a professional image through exceptional phone etiquette, pleasantness, and the ability to maintain composure while dealing with people.
• Maintains professional working relationships with workers, ancillary services, and medical personnel.
• Carry out all duties outlined in department-specific qualifications.
• Offers patients with individualized attention while ensuring a fast patient flow through the office.
• Serve as a patient advocate in encounters with health care services.
• Help health-care providers as needed.
• Helps in day-to-day operations as needed for the best possible patient care.
• Participate in staff development programs.
• Oversees own continuing education initiatives to keep skills up to date, broaden knowledge base, and meet entry-level criteria.
• Understands the physical needs of the job and operates within the department’s guidelines. At all times, performs job activities safely, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting skills. Actions are planned to promote safety. Reports any unsafe condition or equipment in accordance with hospital policy.
• The ability to successfully communicate with all members of the healthcare team using various types of communication (verbal/digital).
• Uphold infection control requirements.
• Complies with Regulatory Requirements
• Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY

• Must have credentials (e.g., certified, registered, as a Medical Assistant.)
• Entry-level qualifications must be met. EHR experience is preferred.
• A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Must be able to communicate well and collaborate well with others. The role requires assertiveness, organizational skills, efficient time management, flexibility, and self-motivation. Bending, stretching, kneeling, twisting, lifting, patient transfer, pushing and pulling, and other physical demands of the profession must be met. The ability to lift 30 pounds is required.
• BLS certification is preferred and must be achieved and maintained within 90 days of hire.
