Position Description:
With annual company revenues ranging from $10M to $300M, the Field Sales Manager sits inside a geographical zone and expands the client base through face-to-face meetings with new prospect customers. The ideal applicant collaborates with senior executives to close sales and acquire new clients. Through the American Express business suite of products, the Field Sales Manager understands customer needs and leverages product knowledge to deliver innovative business solutions that provide ongoing value to new customers.
Duties on the Work
- Prospecting (30-40% of the time)
- Using firm-provided leads and contact-lists, as well as self-generated leads (e.g., tradeshows), use various contact strategies such as cold phoning or in-person meetings to secure profitable sales prospects.
- All prospecting must be done with honesty and in compliance with our values, with a focus on profitably offering solutions that are commensurate with the demands of the prospective client.
- Pipeline management (ten to twenty percent of time)
- Successfully manage a pipeline of prospective clients provided by American Express as well as self-prospecting inside territory (Corporate and Business prospects with revenue ranging from $10 million to $300 million).
- Convert leads into prospects (contacts that know you and are willing to provide information about possible opportunities), follow up with contacts in the CRM database, and probe prospects for prospective opportunities.
- Client solution (ten to twenty percent of the time)
- Analyze client requirements and collaborate to design a solution in response to customer requests; bring in product specialists to meet with customers; and maintain dialogues to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of American Express products, processes (Underwriting, Line Increase, Customer Financials, Pricing, Contract), key internal partners (Risk, UWA, PPI), and tools (ONE.force, C360)
- Negotiate and close (ten to twenty percent of the time)
- Negotiate successfully and take the prospect into the next phase of the acquisition cycle (e.g., underwriting) in compliance with appropriate disclosures, terms, and conditions.
- Reaffirm agreement specifics, obtain appropriate signatures, and successfully shift customer to Field Account Development to nurture, appraise, and increase relationship and volume.
