Responsibilities:
Purchasing Plan
- Drive short- and long-term Supplier strategy in collaboration with the Production/Responsible Sourcing and Disney Global Sourcing (DGS) teams.
- Complete the GMDE/SWOTS/Annual Supplier Scorecard with feedback from cross-functional partners, and collaborate with suppliers during business planning and performance review meetings.
- Build and deliver the seasonal sourcing kick-off presentation in collaboration with responsible sourcing, production, and trade compliance, which will include macroeconomic and trade updates and costing projections.
- Encourage and carry out all sourcing activities, such as:
- Sustainability: reaching the targets for Scope 3 emissions and materials.
- improved product quality, including compliance with international regulatory standards. To make sure that products constantly fulfill criteria for the worldwide market, keep an eye on changes in product composition and global labeling.
- Controlling costs and becoming profitable Keep up with changes in currency exchange rates, commodity prices, labor costs, trade agreements and conflicts, COVID regulations, environmental policies, and other macroeconomic and geopolitical factors that may affect cost and delivery.
- Originating nation (COO) In order to diversify, determine when there is a need for new suppliers, collaborate with DGS and Responsible Sourcing to find and evaluate prospective new partners, including organizing costing and sample exercises.
- ILS, or international labor standards Make sure compliance guidelines are followed by working with TWDC Global Product & Labor Standards.
- With both new and current suppliers, actively seek out new opportunities, ideas, techniques, and materials to promote product innovation. Establish vendor innovation weeks to examine seasonal market and production innovation.
Development of Products and Costing
- To ensure sustainability objectives are accomplished, promote material platforming and suggest sustainable product engineering solutions.
- Assist Product Design in managing product finalization, including costing, vendor placement, and final development samples, to guarantee timely handoff to Production in support of predetermined in-store and online launch dates.
- By locating and reducing cost drivers, increase the productivity and profitability of global merchandise.
- Final business placement and complete preliminary costing, including COO distribution, channel margins, and vendor loads.
- For all adopting areas, as per the commit report, approve the finalized costing and vendor placement, including any variant pricing or sourcing.
- Join forces with Trade Compliance on opportunities in Tariff Engineering with a focus on international distribution.
- Determine how to re-cost or re-develop products based on production issues that affect item appearance.
Process and Productivity
- Up until a pre-pro sample has been accepted, oversee all samples and shepherd approvals. Responsible for keeping track of development and sampling progress in relation to important milestone dates; update Merchandise and Design on development and sampling status during weekly cross-functional meetings.
- Create custom reports (such as time & action calendars, status updates, etc.) as needed.
- In charge of ensuring that products adhere to accepted standards for safety and quality in all markets where they are intended for sale, including keeping track of quarterly Product Review Requests (PRRs) with partners in product integrity.
- Manage the data entry workflow for tasks including item setups, financial roadmaps, and billing.
Communication and Cooperation
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with top-tier vendors within TWDC, especially with the global merchant, design, production, buying, and planning teams as they relate to the procurement and creation of Disney-branded products that are the best in their respective categories.
- Facilitate quarterly meetings with suppliers/vendors to examine volume of business, ensure supplier alignment with Disney processes and procedures, confirm the accuracy of submitted data, and handle common concerns.
- Participate in quaterly product strategy meetings to create sourcing plans for important initiatives.
- Utilize your understanding of the company’s products and services to manage the needs of various stakeholders and to ensure successful collaboration with vendors and partners who span functional boundaries.

Requirements:
- 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in product development/design, merchandising, or sourcing for specialized retail or consumer products in an international, omni-channel setting.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams for at least three years
- Knowledge of numerous product categories’ sourcing and/or product development. It is a MUST to have prior expertise in the relevant category in a sourcing, product development, or merchandising capacity.
- Strong member of the team with an efficient managerial style. Successful work history within a highly matrixed organizational framework; aptitude for teamwork with various design, merchandising, and commercial channel partners.
- As a Brand and Disney representative for international teams, suppliers, manufacturers, and business partners, you should have excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Interpersonal abilities with the capacity to persuade a broad audience, as well as prior experience dealing with customers and business owners outside the company to introduce products and assortments to the market.
- With the ability to drive execution against margin goals and annual operating/financial plans through negotiation, financial expertise, and strategic thinking.
- The capacity to manage several SKUs, schedules, and deadlines in a hectic setting.
- Dedication to product development and item detail.
- Control over production methods, materialization, and the main development cost influences.
- The capacity for both home and foreign travel.
- Flexibility in scheduling to account for different time zones.
- Because of the hybrid nature of this position, the employee will spend some of their time (typically 3 days) working on-site from a company-designated location in Central Florida and the rest of the time working from home.
REQUIRED SCHOOLING:
- 5-8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in merchandising, product development/design, retail management, general/international business, or supply chain.
