Responsibilities:
An exceptionally talented patent prosecution legal assistant with at least three years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution is needed by our client, a top intellectual property practice of a top regional law firm. It is necessary to have understanding of and familiarity with PTO-related policies and practices, including electronic filing.
The patent assistant must be a self-starter who is very organized, precise, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven. They also need to be proficient with computers and have outstanding oral and writing communication skills.
The Patent Assistant assists the attorney with client management, including but not limited to written and verbal client correspondence, docket maintenance, and client-specific procedures. helps attorney with the prosecution of patent applications in the US.
The Patent Assistant creates and maintains patent files. They do this by opening files, preparing paperwork for filing, such as preliminary amendments, information disclosure statements, responses to missing parts, assignments, amendments, and issue fee payments.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign colleagues’ incoming mail is examined by the patent legal assistant for any docketing that is crucial. 3 years or more of expertise with patent prosecution. familiarity with USPTO regulations and procedures as well as computerized case management tools. A bonus are IPFolio, Memotech, etc.

Requirements:
- Creating and maintaining a case-management database; organizing and tracking files for significant transactions or case papers, such as pleadings and extensive discovery records.
- Looking into the real evidence in a transaction or case and creating exhibits, charts, and diagrams to show data
- Three or more years of prior legal experience and a commitment to honesty
- Making commonplace discoveries
- Previous experience working on specific cases or transactions, as well as supporting attorneys in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
- Drafting transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts, and real estate leases; legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas; and closing documents
- In-depth understanding of patent intellectual property
- Proven expertise in patent preparation
- Basic understanding of foreign patents
- Previous experience working with USPTO filings
- Previous work that involved USPTO searches
- US Province – Patent Usefulness, design, and PCT experience
- Proficiency with Patent Prosecution
- Understanding of patent law
- Working familiarity with patents
- Basic understanding of Patentability Searches
- Experience with U.S. Patents is highly preferred
- Experience with Patent Applications is greatly sought
