Job Description:

In accordance with all office, clinic and hospital policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to patient confidentiality and informed consent, the medical interpreter is in charge of providing correct medical information and enabling the successful delivery of patient services to diverse language segments. In charge of written translations needed for patient contacts, including but not limited to forms, care instructions, prescription schedules, patient letters, and other identified papers and patient materials.

Work Experience and/or Education

• Preferably college level interpreter training.
• Preferred degree is in a health science-related discipline.
• Strong medical lexicon and prior experience as a medical interpreter in a healthcare environment

Licenses and Certifications

• Required is evidence of oral and writing proficiency in English/Spanish from a recognized authorized institution or by completing an Avera-administered interpreter’s abilities test.
• All applicants must pass a test in medical jargon.
