The development, production, and ad integration of various ESPN audio and video podcasts fall under the purview of the digital producer. They collaborate daily with members of the leadership team for the podcast, artists, and stakeholders in the digital audio/video industry, as well as internal and external distribution partners. They are involved in the planning of shows as well as the short- and long-term content strategies. The digital producer informs talent and crew of daily and weekly requirements and provides feedback.
This position can be located in either Los Angeles, CA, or Connecticut.
Responsibilities:
- Promotes, develops, and improves ideas and concepts for both short- and long-term planning. Plans episodes in accordance with ESPN content goals and integrates them with other ESPN platforms, such as the ESPN App and YouTube.
- Have knowledge of the production techniques used to promote the download and viewing of videos and podcasts.
- Oversees the gathering and editing of the content required for production across all pertinent platforms. collaborates with colleagues at ESPN to create engrossing cross-platform programming.
- Acquires and maintains broad knowledge of newsmakers, trends, and stories in the world of sports; chooses and schedules pertinent guests for show appearances.
- Helps with the hiring and training of temporary staff. creates, distributes, and maintains editorial standards for on-air commentators.
- Ensures fit and fulfillment of ad inventory within shows by collaborating with the sales and marketing teams. creates market divisions and sales opportunity concepts.
- Has excellent abilities for engaging listeners on social media. Along with the podcast leadership team, the producer will establish the overall audience building plan for the broadcasts.
Requirements:
Basic requirements:
- Experience in podcast, digital, or broadcast production for at least five years
Preferred credentials:
- Possessing proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, especially with Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects
- Knowledge of remote recording applications like Riverside, Squadcast, or Zoom
- Having worked as a single field producer
- Knowledge about DSLR cameras
- Knowledge of journalism and the news
- A few years of direct report and team management experience
