Position Description:

In your role as a Data Science Intern on the Decisions: Inference track, you will design and analyze tests in our dynamic marketplace, estimate statistical and machine learning models to enable better decisions, and create and assess algorithmic policies in our pricing, dispatch, and incentive systems. Candidates should be proficient in sophisticated modeling methods from disciplines including econometrics, statistics, and machine learning. They should also be knowledgeable about causal inference and possess good probability skills and statistical rigor.

Responsibilities:

  • Work together to frame issues from a mathematical and business perspective with engineers, product managers, and business partners.
  • To better comprehend the issue, do out exploratory data analysis.
  • Build, fit, and implement statistical and machine learning models.
  • Write production modeling code and work with engineers to implement algorithms in production systems.
  • Create and carry out market studies when there are spatial interference patterns and time-varying treatment effects.
  • Analyze experimental and observational data; disseminate findings, including through presentations and collaboration with partner teams; and assist in making launch decisions.
  • Using high-dimensional market activity data, prototype modeling techniques that reduce estimator error
  • Use current methods, such as off-policy assessment, to rigorously analyze and compare policies based on models.

Experience:

  • reaching your Masters or PhD graduation between December 2023 and June 2024
  • presently pursuing a Masters or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
  • knowledge of SQL, Python, and common data science libraries (NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
  • Designing trials and analyzing randomized testing like A/B tests
  • modeling using statistics and probability
  • preliminary data analysis
  • Extra credit knowledge of understanding two-sided markets
