Position Description:

As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be in charge of the data engineering’s craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability. You will bring a desire to stay current with trends as well as experiment with and learn new technologies. You will promote innovation, the use of cutting-edge technologies, creative thinking, teamwork, and self-organization.

DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY:

• Design, create, test, implement, and support data pipelines in collaboration with and across Agile teams.
• Assist in the development of long-term data solutions using cutting-edge data technology.
• Lead and mentor other aspiring engineers.
• Actively participate in enterprise IT strategy and data architecture.
• Rapidly learn and master new technologies as needed to advance various initiatives.
• Dissect and address complicated data issues
• Develop strong systems with an eye toward automation and long-term application maintenance and support.

Qualities and abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Management, or a related subject, or equivalent experience
• At least 4 years of expertise in Data Engineering with Big Data Technologies: Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka are all options.
• At least three years of programming experience is required: Scala, Python, or Java
• At least two years of expertise constructing data pipelines, CICD pipelines, and fit-for-purpose data repositories is required.
• At least one year of experience with cloud technology is required: Amazon, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, Docker, Ansible, Chef, or Terraform are examples of cloud computing platforms.

Preferred:

• Master of Science
• 8+ years of data architecture and design experience
• 4+ years of Amazon experience: S3, Redshift, EMR, or EC2
• 3+ years of experience with automated build and continuous integration systems is required.
• 2+ years of Linux system experience
