Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- Three or more years of expertise designing and implementing software using Java or Scala.
- Knowledge of Spark data processing.
- Having experience developing, implementing, and running any NoSQL database, including Elasticsearch and Cassandra.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and Spark for distributed data processing and analysis.
- Having knowledge of distributed messaging systems like Kafka
- A plus is having knowledge of creating Micro services and Service Mesh.
- An advantage is having knowledge of cloud platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Knowledge of DevOps systems, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Integration.
- Knowledge of large-scale distributed data architecture, taking into account scalability, dependability, security, performance, and adaptability.
- Clear comprehension of the many threading, memory, and design patterns that the language/VM supports.
- Able to mentor and advise other engineers on technical matters.
- Possess superior verbal and written communication abilities. Create and present to Senior Leadership compelling presentations.
Responsibilities:
Building the essential features and capabilities of card transaction systems on distributed platforms running in hybrid clouds will be your responsibility as a data engineer. An individual contributor position reporting to the director of engineering is the data engineer at American Express.
- You will be in charge of creating systems for distributed data processing and analysis.
- Create and code features, collaborate with developers on daily tasks, and assist with coding and other SDLC responsibilities.
- Create robust, effective code while adhering to industry standards.
- Create POCs to test novel ideas and emerging technology.
- You’ll continually research and study cutting-edge/innovative technology and solutions. Be very knowledgeable about enabling technologies and open-source goods while developing distributed systems with low latency.
- Establish a fun, results-focused culture, encourage creativity and experimentation, and encourage people to try new things without worrying about failing.
- Work together with rival technology and development teams in various regions.
Salary: $85,000 to $150,000 per year, with bonuses and benefits
