The College and Career Readiness Counselor will collaborate with the school’s College and Career Readiness Specialist to support the school’s mission and operations, ensuring students successfully complete their instructional and career pathway programs. Key responsibilities include assisting students and parents with graduation requirements, course selection, scheduling, career pathway planning, and crisis intervention. The role involves managing the CTE internship placement program and becoming an expert on state course requirements, academic planning, and career pathways leading to diplomas and certifications. The counselor will work with a team of school counselors to establish a comprehensive counseling program for all students and collaborate with the special education team to support students with IEPs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, and execute a comprehensive counseling program addressing academic development, personal growth, and career planning for all students.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of the Career Advisory program.
  • Oversee special programs related to career awareness, exploration, and preparation.
  • Stay informed about high school graduation requirements in relation to career pathways.
  • Assist in developing the CTE Internship program.
  • Plan and supervise the secondary school course selection process, ensuring compliance with state credit and graduation requirements.
  • Counsel students on course changes and withdrawals.
  • Ensure smooth integration of mid-semester enrollees into coursework.
  • Supervise transcript receipt, review, and credit entry into the online system.
  • Design and implement crisis prevention and management plans, leading the Crisis Management Team.
  • Report and refer critical incidents affecting student well-being in compliance with regulations.
  • Stay updated on community resources to meet the needs of distressed students.
  • Identify and support at-risk or crisis-affected students.
  • Assist families with the school withdrawal process, collecting withdrawal data.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Counselor Education preferred.
  • Active Oregon School Counseling license.
  • Minimum 3 years of counseling experience.
  • Proficiency in Career Pathways and CTE-focused school settings preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with leadership skills.
  • Technologically proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products.
