In the various department billing offices, we are looking for a Coding Specialist who will be in charge of diagnosis and CPT coding. Charges for diagnosis and CPT for input into the JHM and JHU/PBS billing programs will be reviewed or coded. An interface or manual fee entry for services rendered at JHM practice sites can be used to achieve this.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge of Procedures
- Collects and confirms all the data needed to generate a clean claim, including any unique billing practices that could be specified by a contract or payer.
- According to payer billing criteria and CPT code rules, suitably bundle
- Addresses differences between POS and CPT codes
- Check the E/M code type, level of service, and if the patient is new or established.
- In charge of upholding a system that verifies encounters, such as clinic scheduling, EPIC encounter data, I/P consultations, and medical records, in order to ensure billing accuracy.
- Respects payer policies.
- Uses LCD/NCD/payer policy information to adhere to restricting coverage requirements for diagnosis coding; it also assigns the proper modifiers in accordance with departmental policy.
- Carries out diagnosis coding with the maximum suitable degree of specificity
- Makes sure diagnosis codes are appropriate for each specialization by adhering to ICD-10 codes.
- Examine and decide Edited every day by EPIC Charge Review.
- Will conduct research as needed and reply to queries from doctors, patients (via SBO Account WQ), and coworkers regarding coding.
- Uses autonomous judgment when going about daily business.
Technical Expertise
- Thorough understanding of and adherence to HIPAA requirements regarding the sharing of patient protected health information (PHI).
- Working familiarity with PBS/JHU billing applications.
- Make use of online resources to expedite the processing of claims.

Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; studies in anatomy and physiology; or proof of acceptable knowledge on medical terminology.
- Department-approved certification, often known as CPC certification.
- Six months of relevant experience in medical billing along with proof of analytical abilities. Epic experience. knowledge of third-party payer concerns.
- Experience may be replaced with further education to the degree that the JHU equivalence calculation allows it.
