Extra credentials:

  • It is preferred if you have prior retail and/or contact center customer service experience.
  • Exhibit critical thinking skills by using a computer and moving through screens in an efficient manner.
  • willing to participate in a two-week course on sales and customer service.
  • Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, or Washington state are among the states where you must reside.
  • For the length of the position, the candidate must live 100 miles from a REI Retail site.
  • the capacity to work a flexible schedule while maintaining consistent and dependable attendance.
  • The minimum age needed is eighteen.

Timetable Conditions

You must be available for the entire assignment over at least two weekdays and all weekend days in order to join our Contact Center team. You’ll be accessible for at least twenty-four hours every week. Although this is a part-time role, there may be opportunities for more hours, possibly even full-time. The days and hours you have set will change according on business volume. June 8, 2024, is the date of the seasonal end.

Technical prerequisites

For this role, as a seasonal worker, you will be using a laptop or personal computer. We need certain technical skills from you in order for you to carry out the responsibilities of this role. These consist of the needs for software, hardware, and networks (internet connections). It is your responsibility to make sure you are aware of and meet these requirements before applying.

Hardware

  • A laptop or computer having at least 8GB of RAM that was bought within the last five years.
  • No iPads, Windows tablets, Google Chromebooks, or Windows 10S mode. Our systems are not supported by them.
  • Headphone USB-A port should be open. Headphones are provided by REI.
  • Open USB-A or USB-C to log in with Yubikey. The Yubikey will be provided by REI.
  • Your device will be connected to an available port on your network router throughout your shift.
  • A webcam is necessary for every training session.

Applications

  • Operating systems: Windows 10 Version 22H2 or later, or Mac OS 12 (Monterey) or later. The Windows 10S Mode isn’t compatible.
  • Using antivirus software that maintains up-to-date definitions.
  • Using a modern, updated browser.Examples include Vivaldi, Brave, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.

Interaction

  • A router capable of 10/100Mbps Ethernet is a must.
  • Requires a high-speed broadband internet connection from a top-tier provider, such as Xfinity, CenturyLink, Spectrum, etc., with a minimum download speed of 15 Mbps and an upload speed of 2 Mbps (you can Google “speed test” to check).

  • You need to use a secured wired access point to connect your computer directly to the internet. Wireless/WiFi, mesh networks, Wi-Fi extenders, and public connections are not allowed.
