DESCRIPTION:
Duolingo is seeking a skilled and experienced content adapter and Spanish language expert with full professional proficiency in Spanish, strong working proficiency in English, and experience writing and/or translating content for literacy learning materials.
This is a freelance position that is temporary (no benefits included). All work will be performed remotely, and the schedule is flexible.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in adapting English language learning materials to meet the reading level needs of Spanish-speaking children (ages 4 to 8)
- Examine English stories and exercises and produce Spanish adaptations while inspecting for correct spelling, grammar, style, consistency, and use of natural language.
- Utilize your expertise in English to Spanish translation, strong attention to detail, and sense of humor to ensure that young Spanish-speaking children have quality, engaging reading experiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete professional competence in Spanish
- Strong working knowledge of English Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, translation, linguistics, or related field Experience translating, reviewing, and/or writing content for various reading levels
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy (Google docs, spreadsheets)
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills Capability to work at least 30 hours per week
- Experience teaching Spanish or creating leveled reading materials is required.
- Experience translating English to Spanish
