Responsibilities:

We are seeking a backend engineer to work in our development team for fraud and risk. In this capacity, a successful engineer is one who not only understands how to design and construct something, but also recognizes how malicious people might utilize technology to carry out immoral, unlawful, or uncool deeds.

We are seeking someone with some experience or interest in analytics, as data is at the core of most of our work. Leadership opportunities are presented by this role for both projects and teams. We emphasize a close-knit team environment that allows individuals to make decisions both independently and as a team.

Furthermore, you will be able to contribute to the development of the engineering department by taking part in recruitment events including career fairs and applicant interviews.

Requirements:

  • You have two to six years of expertise using Java or a related language to design backend services, components, or APIs.
  • You exhibit an awareness and comprehension of functional programming principles and distributed systems.
  • You are familiar with SQL and have worked with online data stores (NoSQL is acceptable, but something like MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server is desirable).
  • You are passionate about continuous integration, automated testing, test-driven development, and agile.
  • Although not necessary, familiarity with Python is advantageous.
  • You experiment with analytics, machine learning, and data science, however it’s not necessary.
  • Although not necessary, familiarity with ORM technologies like Hibernate would be beneficial.
  • Working with a dependency injection framework (such as Guice, Spring, Pico, or Dagger) offers an additional benefit, albeit it’s not necessary.
  • You hold a computer science or related field bachelor’s or master’s degree.

After your enrollment, Wealthfront will

  • Assign you a mentor who will help you navigate our methodical onboarding process.
  • Motivate you to work on tasks that align with your career objectives.
  • Contribute to your professional growth by offering input in our semi-annual reviews and weekly one-on-one sessions.
  • Give you freedom so you can successfully join our team and be a happy member.
