Position Description

The University of Oxford is seeking an Assistant Content Editor to join their team to support teaching and ensure that their content publications and resources meet the individual needs of communities, societies, and countries. As the largest university press in the world, the Assistant Content Editor will enjoy a personal understanding of local needs while having a global impact. The Assistant Content Editor will work on projects that will analyse the markets, commission resources, and manage author relationships.

Responsibilities

1. To maintain up-to-date understanding of customers’ needs, competitive environment, and the market via interaction with clients, reviews, surveys, engaging with customers virtually and in-person, and conducting detailed analyses of our competitors’ products.
2. To research reviewers, issue review invitations, set deadlines, collate and anonymize reviews to coordinate the market review of new proposals.
3. To coordinate external peer reviews of draft manuscripts concurrently gaining necessary market validation while seeding the market for future adoptions.
4. Commission and coordinate the preparation of market-required resources to support content and products in the classrooms while minimizing investments. Evaluate content for quality and fit with market need according to project specifications, using usage data, market feedback, and other metrics for informed strategic decisions.
5. Manage projects to completion in brief, schedule, budget, and with available resources. Manage author relationships prior to submission of their content, ensuring it meets the agreed specification and contractual requirements.
6. Ensure project tracking and CRM systems, particularly Oxford Publish and Salesforce, are current with accurate data.

• Excellent written communication and strong interpersonal and verbal skills.
• A demonstrable interest in the publishing industry.
• Demonstrable ability to learn and effectively use different IT systems and software.

Salary range:
Dependent on skills and experience, salary for this position ranges from $33,600 to $50,400.
