Responsibilities:

A non-profit is looking for a Voucher Specialist 1 to carry out a range of administrative and clerical tasks in support of the Section 8 Voucher Program that strictly abide by rules and established procedures. includes confirming applicants’ eligibility and income, keeping up with files, and responding to common questions from tenants. For this position to be successful, attention to detail is essential. To function well in a paperless setting, the applicant should be well organized and have intermediate computer abilities. The position maintains tight relationships with the general public, landlords, and current and potential clients.

  • Applications and verification documents for relocation, new admissions, and recertification are requested and received.
  • Keeps track of tenant files to make sure they adhere to firm and HUD regulations.
  • Sends notices of impending termination for failure to cooperate with the certification process after reviewing the status.
  • Assists the Federal Program Policy Manager by processing routine requests for reasonable accommodations. Sends unusual requests to the proper Voucher staff.
  • Creates and gathers information for the director of the voucher program’s monthly reports.
  • Independently and politely responds to common inquiries and requests from potential tenants, staff, landlords, and applicants. addresses problems or sends them to higher level employees while adhering to established norms.
  • Oversees the waitlist for notice and outreach.
  • Manages waitlist draws by keeping track of occupancy and use statistics.
  • Aids applicants in completing their applications.
  • Database is updated using data supplied by renters and applicants.
  • Scans documents and stores them in DocuWare. sends out agency mail. sends out incoming faxes.
  • Backs up the front desk employees when required.
  • Rent increases and lease renewals are examined and processed.
  • Examines and handles move-in RFTAs. Discusses paperwork accuracy and inspections with landlords and property managers.
  • Coordination of property owner changes should be done in conjunction with finance.
  • Monitors the website’s Landlord and Applicant Portals. examines incoming mails from the portal. improves access for landlords.
  • Consistently complies with the departmental and positional requirements for attendance and safety.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, tenants, landlords, suppliers, and other contacts related to the job.

Requirements:

Skills

Property management, clerical support, MS Office Suite, and administrative clerical

Further abilities & credentials:

  • At least two years of experience directly relevant to the position are necessary, as well as some higher level education or vocational training with a focus on office skills and/or housing-related subjects.
  • One year of experience in clerical work or customer service.
  • Demonstrated the computer proficiency required to carry out duties.
  • The ability to become certified as a Section 8 housing specialist within a year of employment.
